Uninsured

Submitted by: Esther

I used to have group health insurance where I work, but there is no way I can work for 72 hours and attending college full-time to keep my group insurance policy. I just found out it is very difficult to get individual coverage through major health insurace companies even I am 36 and healthy. I have been denied from four different companies. Later discovered that my medical information bureau report contains false misleading information for treatment of a blood clot in my leg(saying that I had surgery which I never did go through surgery)and three misdiagnoses on my report. Represerntaive from the insurance company explained to me those three misdiagnoses will denied me to get health insurance or will put on a high risk policy that will cost me over $700 a month. I am not qualify for medicaid and canot use free clinics because of my income. I am running out resources. I hope President Obama will do something about it.

  1. I have two daughters in limbo. My eldest is going back to grad school. She is 28. She had a job and health insurance but lost both. She is fairly healthy but needs some medications. So for the time being we signed her up with Cinergy. I don’t know if it was the greatest move, but it was better than nothing until something else comes up. My other daughter was on our insurance til the end of July. She is 26. We had no choice but to sign her up for a cobra policy because she has a “precondition” requiring expensive medication. Neither daughter can afford the policies, so we will be covering the payments for now. That will cut into our expenses, of course, and for that reason it would be nice to see some kind of public policy as long as it can reasonable cover our children who are in that limbo situation as the previous writer indicated. But many don’t have the option of parents being able to help. It will be difficult when my husband cuts down on work and/or retires. Then we’ll have to worry about our own health insurance we we have pre conditions as well. So I do hope President Obama gets rid of precondition clauses because they are just not fair and the medication can be prohibitive.

  3. Well, your article is really a notable topic to Obama and his big job. Although I do not concur with some minor points in general I´m fully on your way. I´m looking forward to see his coming stories about health questions. Just saying thanks for your Good work and writing is an important thing nowadays. Go ahead.
